On Catalina Island, Avalon Canyon Road is a path that leads to adventure. As you head inland, away from the busy beachfront and bustling shops and restaurants of downtown, you’ll make your way from Avalon Harbor, past blocks of charming island cottages. You might start to notice some towering eucalyptus trees, prickly pear cacti, and rocky, brushy hillsides along the road and its surrounding canyon. The air will start to fill with scents of coastal sage scrub. Avalon Canyon Road really leads you to another world on the island. The roadway is home to island icons like Hermit Gulch Campgrounds, the Catalina Island Golf Course, the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden, and now, Catalina’s Adventure Headquarters.

In 2026, Catalina’s Adventure Headquarters created a new space to serve as the launchpad for all kinds of Catalina adventures. Truly a gateway to the wilder parts of the island, it is the best place to begin your most adventurous experiences on and around Catalina–by land and by sea. There’s so much to do on Catalina Island, if you know where to start. Read on to discover more about what you’ll find at Catalina’s Adventure HQ.

Catalina's Adventure HQ

An actual hub for adventure. These days, it’s so easy to just do a quick online search, buy tickets, and show up. However, Catalina’s Adventure HQ does more than just support a website. The company operates from a brick and mortar space that is fully equipped to help you with streamlining details for all of your trip activities. The building has a long history of connecting people to the island and its natural treasures; it once served as an interpretive center, then a local wildlife learning space, before becoming the Adventure HQ. Here’s more about what you’ll find there:

  • Transportation station: All around Avalon, you’ll see the signature white minivans that make up the Catalina Taxi and Tours fleet. Taxis are great for getting passengers to and from the ferry and island accommodations. They’re just right if you need a ride after a night out or a lift to a destination that is just a bit too far for walking. But Catalina Taxi and Tours does so much more than just taxi trips.

Catalina's Adventure HQ is home to Catalina Taxi and Tours

At Catalina’s Adventure HQ, you can book Catalina Taxi and Tours to take you to campgrounds and trailheads all throughout the island’s interior. Traversing the Trans-Catalina Trail? We can help get you there. Jeeps or 4 Runners can also bring passengers on tours to see some of Catalina’s gorgeously rugged interior terrain or even a town of Avalon tour. Interested in seeing the island’s other town of Two Harbors? A shuttle can take you there. Tours are not just for hikers and campers; families will enjoy activities like a trip up to the Airport in the Sky or a scenic Picnic Tour. Couples might opt for a Toast Catalina tour if they’re celebrating something special. All of these island jaunts can start at Catalina’s Adventure HQ.

  • Prep, plans, and gear for going underwater: Services from the island’s premier dive center, Catalina Divers Supply, can now be accessed at Catalina’s Adventure HQ building–in addition to its other locations at the Casino building and the Green Pleasure Pier. At the headquarters, divers can get all of their scuba and snorkel equipment as well as complete PADI certification courses for all levels. The Discover Scuba Diving adventure is a great way to get started with scuba diving, and Catalina is arguably the best spot for first time divers. Interested in a guided dive or a night dive? You can set all of that up–and more–at the headquarters before you head down the road to the ocean to explore Catalina’s undersea gardens and sea life.

  • Stop and shop: Catalina’s Adventure HQ is happy to offer a selection of souvenirs as well as a curated collection of local goods. In need of snacks or campfire food for your island itinerary? Supplies are available at the headquarters.

  • A new experience for locals and visitors, alike: Catalina’s Adventure HQ operates as outfitters and coordinators for some of the best island days you’ll ever have. Some of the island’s most trusted and well established companies have teamed up at this command post, making the logistics of your dives, hikes, camping trips, and tours so much easier to manage.

  • One team for all your needs, with local knowledge and experience: These headquarters are operated by Christy Harp, an island resident and seasoned adventurer. Her explorations on land and water combined with her love for the island inspired the creation of this company that aims to bring convenience and care to every excursion.
